Taking Care of your Swimwear

Taking Care of your Swimwear

As parents, we all know the drill—endless loads of laundry and the challenge of keeping kids’ swimwear in top shape. This blog is here to help you maximize the life of your swimwear and keep it looking great for as long as possible. Plus, many of our designs are unisex, so you can hand them down between siblings! 🎉

1. Rinse in Cold Water Immediately

One of the most important things you can do is to wash your swimwear in cold water as soon as possible. Chlorine is essential in pools, but it’s tough on both your skin and swimwear. Rinsing promptly helps remove chlorine and prevents damage to the fabric.

2. Avoid Wringing and Twisting

I know it’s tempting to wring out water to speed up drying, but this can stretch out the fabric and ruin the fit. Instead, gently press the swimwear between two clean towels to remove excess water.

3. Dealing with Sand

I love a day at the beach, but I’m not a fan of sand getting trapped in swimwear. Despite trying various brands, sand always seems to find its way in. To tackle this, I wait until the swimwear is dry and give it a good shake to remove most of the sand. If any remains, a hair dryer on a cool setting can help blow it out. I personally don't stress too much about this type of thing, but if you have any other mum hacks, let me know 😊

4. Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Steer clear of bleach and fabric softeners. These can damage the fabric and reduce the lifespan of your swimwear. Stick to mild detergents designed for delicates.

5. No Tumble Drying or Ironing

Never put swimwear in the tumble dryer or iron it. Heat can damage the elastic fibres and cause the fabric to lose its shape. Always air dry your swimwear.

If you have any other great mum hacks for swimwear care, I’d love to hear them!
